Key stuck in lock if your key is stuck in the lock then it s best to call us as soon as you can. The key is inserted into the lock cylinder to allow the lock bolt latch to be engaged. Spray the door key with a graphite based lubricant. Slide the key in the lock and tap lightly on the key to lubricate the inside of the lock.

Outdoor locks can collect a lot of dirt and dust inside the lock cylinder. Either their key was incredibly worn down almost smooth or the inside wafers on their door lock were worn down thus giving the impression that the lock is seized up. Use a silicon based spray in the lock if the spare key did not turn the ignition or you did not have one you need to consider the ignition as the issue. There are several reasons this might occur. When you insert your key the key raises the pins to the point where the division between the top pins. Remove the two screws one on either side of the handle and remove the knob. Lubricate the inside of the mechanism if the lock still does not function.

Leave the striker bolt in place. You may be able to take care of the problem yourself or you may need to call a locksmith for help. Our favorite and the only brand we use is triflow. Don t use a wet. You can get it on amazon for a great price. If you use too much force trying to remove the key yourself it s possible that your key may snap or break inside the lock cylinder.

A key that doesn t turn in the lock could have several causes. Try squirting some silicon based lock lubricant into the ignition or door lock. If there is a broken tailpiece in your door lock then there is a chance the key will keep turning in the door lock. Flip the key and open the door.
